Best Selling Authors Need to Be Hands-on Marketers To Triumph
Authors feel success will somehow magically happen if they just write the book. They don’t realize they’ll have to do their own book marketing to find real success whether traditionally published or self- published, no matter what format.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) – May 03, 2011 – INTERNET
Too many authors feel that once they’ve completed their manuscript and its published their work is finished. Unfortunately, the real work is only just beginning. Self-published writers join the ranks of authors like Stephen King and Mark Twain, also self published. Would we have ever heard of them if they had just sat back after they published the book? No way!
Book marketing needs to be an ongoing process if you want to build a readership. It needs to be systematic and organized. It does not, however, need to be costly, unpleasant or complicated.
Lynnette Phillips, the author of the ‘The Confessions & Secrets of the Avid Book Reviews Blogger’ series of book marketing guides is unveiling her book marketing services to help resolve some of the promotional and marketing questions authors may have.
Long involvement in successful promotion projects has taught Ms. Phillips one basic tenant; the big difference between advertising and marketing is money. There are many realistically priced and even free marketing methods that will help get the ‘buzz’ going for your book and by taking the initiative you might even find book promotion to be enjoyable.
Lynnette is waiting to share her tips, techniques and strategies on subjects like:
• News Releases And Sell Sheets
• Making The Best Use Of Your Marketing Dollars
• Social Media Networking
• What To Include In Your Website Or Blog
• Points You Might Want To Take Into Account In Your Marketing Plan
• Resources, Links & Tools
Whether an author self-publishes or goes with a traditional publishing house they need to become a proactive marketer to attract readers. Take the initiative and contact the Avid Marketing Coach to win through marketing success.

Why Should You Consider a Book Doctor?
Affordable book doctor services can mean the difference between commercial success and failure for a self-published book. Spelling, grammar, usage errors and simple overall structural problems can go unnoticed by Indie authors in an unedited manuscript.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) – INTERNET—Lynnette Phillips, the Avid Reader Book Reviews Blogger, has announced the addition of book critiquing (book doctor) services allowing self-published authors an affordable alternative to costly editing options. As the Avid Reader Book Reviews Blogger, whose book reviews are widely read and followed by literary enthusiasts, Lynnette will thoroughly read your manuscript and assess six critical points. Then a summary letter is submitted to the author describing her findings, thoughts and opinions. A more detailed report will be available if desired.
Before you risk the expense of print on demand publishing, or the time commitment of uploading your work to an eReader tablet, Lynnette will coach you based on her experience of what is being read and how it’s being received. Avid Reader Book Critiques will privately and discreetly critique your book for the most successful launch you can hope for.
Based on research, an editor found on a writing forum or through a writer’s group, critiquing a 200 page paperback, will charge between $700-1500. Add to this the cost of basic proofreading, a step that is very unwise to skip, which will cost an additional $0-500 (you may know a friend who’ll provide this service for a low or even zero cost). Avid Reader Book Critiques, however, is offering a more affordable solution and presently at an inaugural price of $99 with a discount of 50% for debut novelists and a 30-day turnaround guarantee.
“I really enjoy reading and reviewing novels and truly admire anyone brave enough to stare a blank page (i.e. computer monitor) in the face and finish with a book or even short story. I have found an added enjoyment when reading Indie authors’ works—I have discovered some real gems. Unfortunately, I have also read a number of self published authors’ works that had real potential but whose success was jeopardized by rushing to press,” Phillips said.
Lynnette Phillips, the Avid Reader Book Reviews Blogger, has written reviews for numerous novels and short stories and has established relationships with many authors and publishers. She is also author of the Confessions & Secrets of the Avid Book Reviews Blogger series (published in e-book format and available at Smashwords and Amazon). Author John Crawley Announces The Man On The Grassy Knoll
Author John Crawley's seventh novel is a work of historical fiction that introduces readers to Raul Domingo Salazar. During interviews with a visiting reporter in a Port-au-Prince, Haiti prison, Salazar tells his story of being framed by the CIA and the Mob to keep him quiet about the role he played in the death of John Kennedy.
"This is by no means my longest or most ambitious novel," Crawley explains. "It is, I think, my best. It's designed and paced to lead the reader into the prison interrogation room with the reporter to listen, first hand, as Salazar describes being recruited to work first for the CIA and then for Castro. Later he describes in detail how he was trained for that day in Dallas and how the entire chain of events was planned and how it all went down." The book is based on Crawley's 10 years of research into the Kennedy assassination.
The streets of Dallas in November in 1963 are recreated through the memory of the second shooter that fateful day. Raul Salazar tells his story, a confession of sorts, about his life and that of the revolutions sweeping the globe in the '60s.
"There's not one word in The Man On The Grassy Knoll, that isn't from the experience of Raul, with the slight exceptions of the notes that the reporter adds to the manuscript to explain lapses on the tape or reactions to things that Raul has said. In so doing, the stripped-down story, the terse prose, is all part of the conversation we are being allowed to listen in on."
As Crawley concludes, "Remember, this is fiction. Or is it?"
Other novels by John Crawley include Baby Change Everything, Among the Aspen and The House Next Door. Cover design by Bob Young.
